Alyssandra Nighswonger
Hello!
I'm a singer-songwriter from Long Beach, CA.
Live at The Hotel Cafe
Out Now! Recorded on March 18, 2023 on a cool, clear 66° spring night with a waning crescent moon in Hollywood, Calif. A large band on the little stage in the small room at The Hotel Cafe. The first song kicks in with a cover of Connie Converse' Talkin' Like You (Two Tall Mountains). The rest of the night explores songs that Nighswonger, Hodges, Shadduck, Pino, Dibble & Thaiss had recently recorded at BIG EGO Studios from upcoming release, Travel + Movement - coming February 2025.
Also featured this evening are Fernando Perdomo, returning with his Mellotron after his appearance on Will You Stay and Laura Merryfield, who used to play violin in Nighswonger's previous project, The Dovelles, on vocals.
What's Happenin'
I am incredibly honored to announce that I am one of the 2024 Professional Artist Fellowship Grant recipients from the Arts Council for Long Beach!
In 2022 I began recording a project under the working title "Travel + Movement" at Big Ego Studios - these songs are a collection of adventure and growth songs, songs of movement and feeling lift.
This album is still in production and on it I am supported (so far) by Stephen Hodges (drums), Anthony Shadduck (bass), R Scott Dibble (keys), Luca Pino (guitar), Ann Thaiss (vocal arrangements & vocals), Elizabeth Manoukian (vocals). Photos by Devin O'Brien.
Shortly after recording these songs I took a road trip to be inspired by the California Coast - part of my vision for this project is to dabble in stop-motion animation, inspired by some of views and feelings from that and other adventures.
About a year ago, I performed some of the songs from the album at Hotel Cafe for The Bicycats album release show (adding Fernando Perdomo on Mellotron and Laura Merryfield on vocals).
So, thanks to this grant from The Arts Council for Long Beach and The City of Long Beach. You will see some release dates announced for the studio album and the live album. I will share my process as I take a dive into stop motion, and of course I will be planning some kind of fun performance experience to celebrate.
Stay tuned and thank you for the support!
